The Retour des Alpages
When folklore, traditions and animals come to the old quarters, it means that autumn is starting to arrive. This great popular festival is a convivial and authentic moment that smells of crafts, old-fashioned trades and local products.

On the second Saturday of October, the streets of Annecy are invaded by colourful herds, craftsmen, old trades, folk groups & traditional instruments, regional producers, smells & flavours of the land.
All day long, discover the different facets of Savoyard crafts and traditions. The highlight of the day is the afternoon parade of nearly 600 animals and herds of mountain pastures in their ceremonial dress! It is also an unmissable event for the inhabitants of the region to celebrate the arrival of autumn in their own way, during a festive and family day.

History of the Retour des Alpages
Since the first edition in 1973, the Annecy Traditions association and all its volunteers have prepared this great festival every year with the same passion and enthusiasm. The event grows year after year, attracting more and more visitors, but its spirit and identity remain intact. Sharing, authenticity, flavours and memories of the land are always in the spotlight.
