Description
Vannerie Yann-Marie: The art of weaving.
I love taking root in basketry, using the fibre in my hands to sublimate plants and, thanks to them, get back to basics in today's world.
I draw my inspiration from a range of traditional techniques to make indoor and outdoor, utilitarian and decorative creations.
Most of my work is made-to-measure, for new creations or renovations of varying dimensions, for private individuals or professionals.
I also teach through courses and retreats.
So if you have a specific project or a crazy idea - I love crazy ideas - contact me.

A job or a verb? For my part, I prefer to aspire to a verb of action, like an intention to walk the paths of life and in different activities. Beyond my profession, my verb would be to love. This aspiration is neither utopian nor romantic. To love in a way where the commitment and responsibility that drive my life are to ensure that my path is connected to my heart, that my actions and thoughts respect and encourage the principles of interdependence and interconnection. To love life in all its upheavals, as well as in its clearings of calm. I dare to believe that what counts is not just what we do, but how we bring it to life, how we live it, how we love it. Sometimes I get the feeling that when we intentionally strive to make our profession a place where we are ready to give and receive, every creation or encounter contributes to our fulfilment. I realise that our capacity to give also depends on the job we do, and whether or not it contributes to our happiness and that of the relationships to which we belong. My verb is to love. My job is basket weaving.
Gestures for the environment
Basketry is where humans and plants meet.
It is a universal and ancestral skill, which over the centuries has been chosen as an essential craft. It has been chosen to meet the private or professional needs of communities, while expressing a singular robustness and aesthetics specific to each territory.
The majority of plastic containers we find today did not exist even half a century ago. Initially, they were made from wickerwork, made to measure, as part of the virtuous circle of plant fibres - local, renewable resources that nourish their environment.
Practising basketry gives me the opportunity to help keep alive this cultural heritage linked to nature, by reinforcing our autonomy and sovereignty, our ability to do things ourselves, with our own hands.
