Agence 1786 is a tailor-made travel agency based in the north of the French Alps, specialising in creating personalised holidays in the heart of the mountains.
The first question you might ask yourself (and rightly so) is: why 1786 ?
To answer that question, we have to go back to 1786. For many years, the ascent of Mont Blanc had been the subject of numerous failed attempts by various experienced mountaineers, using the same routes.
On 7 August 1786, in the silence of the Great White, two Chamonixers, Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard, took a new route. They ventured onto a route that had never been attempted or explored before... By embarking on this route, unknown to most other mountaineers, their strategy paid off. These two Savoyard pioneers, familiar with the mountains and their native land, made the first ascent of Mont Blanc on 8 August 1786, reaching a height of 4,810 metres!
This is the same approach that has guided us since the creation of Agence 1786 in 2015: to help travellers discover the Alps in a unique way, off the beaten track! We are pleased to be committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the environment.
We have put in place a number of concrete measures to reduce our ecological impact and promote sustainability!
For example, we have replaced all the light bulbs on our premises with LEDs to reduce our energy consumption.
We have also introduced a system for recycling packaging and paper.
We also pay close attention to the impact of our activities on the environment, giving preference to local products and reusing materials and equipment for our seminars.
Of course, our guides always take great care to leave our outdoor seminars in their natural state.
This allows us to help promote our local players and products.
By working exclusively in the Rhône-Alpes region, we are also helping to create jobs and promote our region.
At Agence 1786, we believe that it is possible to reconcile economic development with environmental protection.
