Summary

The resort of Valloire organizes an artistic event unique in France, both festive and linked to its mountains. Discover the giant works made by talented sculptors! They are visible all summer at Les Verneys, in Valloire. This competition is unique in France! Its theme is free, but the term "sculpture" is generic. It is in fact a "construction" which is filled and dressed with straw and hay. 12 giant sculptures are made in teams of 2.

Giant animals, monumental faces, enchanted creatures and oversized structures… Oversized works once again invade Valloire on the occasion of the 12th edition of the International Straw and Hay Sculpture Competition. About twenty artists from all over the world compete in imagination and inventiveness to design huge pieces sometimes culminating at more than 7 meters high! This competition follows very strict rules: each team has 600 kg of hay, 400 kg of straw, 75 meters of wire netting and a lot of elbow grease to create these gigantic works that defy all laws of gravity. Free time in Valloire from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Non-stop outward and return journeys. Free lunch. The hay sculptures are exhibited on the Verneys plateau. A shuttle will take you from VALLOIRE Center to Verneys.
