Wine tasting just down the street
Dec. 2024
3 min.

Within the narrow confines of Pré Carré Square the wine bar*, Les Parcellaires promises a wine tasting experience like no other, whatever the occasion. Whether a quiet evening for two, an event to celebrate, a glass on the go, or after hours, this incredible location offers an authentic gourmet experience.

In vino veritas

After opening just one short year ago, the wine bar Les Parcellaires now figures among those places to recommend when in Annecy.

In charge of the establishment is Fabien Vuillon, a sommelier with ten years’ experience who made a name for himself in some of the most prestigious restaurants in Paris such as the Ritz, Thibault Sombardier, and Davide Toutain before venturing out on his own. Well, not exactly on his own, since he and Camille Dupont created the wine bar as a couple to share their love for wine with others!

The couple also wanted put down roots in a region that they find appealing, one that values family, simplicity, and outdoor sports, and where they can make their mark.

Les Parcellaires always offers a warm and friendly atmosphere, whether in the lounge with friends, at the bar chatting with colleagues, or in the dining room enjoying great eats paired with just the right wine. To each his or her own preferred way to taste a great vintage.

And when it comes to wine, Fabien has a list of more than 700 wines including 200 types of Champagne, one of his favorite regions. His wine cellar represents the culmination of ten years of hard work and meeting with winemakers. Whether you prefer French wines, or are eager to try hidden gems from the New World or even vineyards located beyond the traditional grape growing regions in Europe and the Middle East, you have come to the right place.

Food and wine

To enhance a great wine, nothing compares to just the right food. The wide variety of dishes to share, including cheeses, cold cuts, savory waffles, stir-fried mushrooms, and garlic chestnuts, intensify every sip. While local artisans such as Maison Baud and Aristide provide charcuterie and fresh bread respectively, Fabien and Camille also pay homage to their home regions of Normandy and Aveyron, showcasing all of France through the copiously assorted trays and platters that change with the seasons.

Speaking of perfect matches, a pâté from Maison Baud, with its subtle hint of hazelnut, pairs beautifully with an orange wine (a type of white wine) from Languedoc. The unique character of this wine strikes just the right balance between the crispness of a white wine and the bitterness of one vinified like a red, with its color derived from macerating the grape skins; just one of the many subtleties learned when listening to Fabien’s insightful recommendations.

The robust nature of a red wine and the light-bodied nature of a white, the finesse of a sparkling wine or the flair of a fortified wine, all of the wines from the cellar in addition to a plethora of non-alcoholic beverages mean a full range of drinks for everyone to enjoy. And the goal is to demystify wine tasting by making it as accessible as possible.

To take the learning experience one step further, their New Year’s resolution for 2025 is to organize workshops designed for individuals and companies, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, make your way to Pré Carré Square Tuesday through Sunday from the hours of 17:00 to midnight.
