A top-secret sneak preview
Following the media release on November 13, the general public will have the chance to learn all about Monopoly Annecy from November 20-22 at the Annecy Nouvelles Galeries Mall, the Lake Annecy Tourism Office’s official partner for the project.
The scheduled program includes a giant Monopoly board, games, special gifts, and a whole host of fun entertainment to fully immerse visitors in the game’s world, all while showcasing the area’s notable local figures.
Julien Audigier, a content creator and the project’s major photographer, expressed his pride in being a part of this project:
“Thanks to my body of work in photography, I am now working alongside the world’s most well-known board game, and I’m so proud. After being named one of Lake Annecy’s emblematic local personalities, the destination has once again put its trust in me by involving me in this amazing project. Through the Tourism Office’s continued enthusiasm for my work and Alpine Editions’ professionalism, my photos will soon be on the box cover and inside one of my favorite games when I was a kid. What an honor to see my photos included in this iconic game from childhood. I am beyond words.”

The Lake Annecy Tourism Office shares Julien’s enthusiasm, “We are proud to showcase the destination in such an original, distinctive, and enterprising way that highlights Lake Annecy and the surrounding area in its entirety.”
- A local edition with an all-new design
Working closely together, the Tourism Office and Alpine Editions (which specializes in personalizing board games), created an all-new design that makes this special edition stand out. Annecy will be the first city in France to adopt the new board design, an exclusive that highlights the incredibly dynamic nature of Lake Annecy and the surrounding area.
- Paying homage to the destination and its locals
This special edition of Monopoly contains such classic well-known icons as the “Start” and “Go to Jail” (feared by some, loved by others) squares, as well as the “Chance” card.
In addition, the classic street names have been changed to better reflect Annecy’s unique heritage and identity. Local neighborhoods have replaced certain avenues, showcasing iconic locations, marquee events, and local figures who contribute to the Lake Annecy Basin’s unique energy.
Among them, several local institutions are truly delighted to appear on the board.

Thomas Lorival and Franck Derouet, from the three-star restaurant Le Clos des Sens, admit that:
“Monopoly brings back fond childhood memories for so many of us. The simple pleasures, spending time with family and friends, laughing all night: all cherished moments that we will never forget. It was an obvious choice to participate when we were contacted for the Annecy edition. We were moved to be able to appear as a culinary and hospitality institution and to participate in highlighting local products and Lake Annecy in a game that brings people together. We love working with others day-in and day-out and can’t wait to roll the dice.”

At Menthon Castle, estate manager Dorian Anthoine highlights the heritage component of the project.
Whether touring Menthon Castle or playing a round of Monopoly, heritage has a way of bringing us all together to enjoy those simple yet unforgettable moments. What fun it is to play the game for the first time or after a long hiatus, whatever the weather outside. These shared often emotional moments create long-lasting memories. With family or friends, keeping this unique heritage alive helps to strengthen the bonds between us.
The same rings true for the Annecy Hockey Club, which also figures among the area’s stakeholders in the spotlight:
The ‘Chevaliers du Lac’ are proud to be a part of the Monopoly’s special Annecy edition. Our presence perfectly reflects our ambition to make the club an integral part of life in Annecy, whether for kids who put on their skates and grab a stick for the first time, or adults who participate in the team’s big wins at Jean Régis ice rink, explains Thomas Spalanzani, the club’s president.
