Description
An ancestral traditional technique at the service of contemporary objects, or how to restore sentimental value to everyday objects.
Although creation is at the heart of her profession, it is above all the intelligence of the hand and the ability to transform material that transports Juliette into the immense world of ceramics. Part limitless creator, part down-to-earth technician, Juliette plays with this double role, creating pieces that straddle the boundary between art, design and craft.
Complex and demanding, the turning process imposes certain constraints in terms of shape and size, which serve as the genesis of the creation. After a first kiln-firing, the pieces are coated with one or more glazes derived from his personal research, to create unique effects. They are then fired again at a higher temperature (1280°C), vitrifying the clay and glaze.
The workshop is open to visitors, and Juliette offers private throwing lessons for those wishing to learn or perfect their throwing technique.
Your provider
In 2023, after 5 years of study in Paris, Brittany and Burgundy, Juliette Comar set up her workshop in Annecy, in the mountains of Haute-Savoie where she grew up. With a background in product design combined with an apprenticeship in artisanal pottery techniques (CAP Tournage) with leading ceramists, she now offers unique, made-to-measure pieces combining contemporary lines with artisanal quality and durability.
Gestures for the environment
By creating pieces made to last over time, Juliette gives everyday objects real durability, as a counterpoint to pointless over-consumption.
