History of the International Animation Film Festival

The current Annecy Festival originated in the early 1960s.

At the end of the 1950s, the JICA (Journées Internationales du Cinéma d’Animation) existed alongside the Cannes Festival. After two editions in the South of France, it was organised in 1960 in Annecy… It was the beginning of a great adventure, which still exists today, between Annecy and Animation!
