Le Colombier par le Col de la Cochette

A superb hike up to one of the legendary peaks of Le Massif des Bauges: Mont Colombier at an altitude of 2,045 m. A 360° panoramic view on the Bauges rewards your arrival at the top.

Departure from the car park under the chalets and pastures of Praz-Gelaz.

Cross the brook and leave the chalets of Praz-Gelaz on the right to reach the Col and the chalets de la Fullie in about 1/2 hour.
Behind the chalets, a path leads to a meadow that is ascended by a wide trail.

Above the forest, the trail crosses the great slopes under the cliffs to the left and joins the forest road that leads to the Col de la Cochette (1684 m). The entire climb is done following the GR/GRP markings.

Upon arrival at the pass, turn right and climb the ridge leading to the summit.

The descent is done by the other ridge, in the direction of the chalets of Rossane.
From there, follow the path along the hillside leading back up to the Col de la Cochette and continue the descent by the track. Once on the forest road, turn left to get back to the vehicles.

Note: Patous (herd protection dogs) are present on this trail. It is therefore not advisable to go there with a dog.
