Description
To mark its 30th anniversary, Ubisoft Annecy is inviting the public to step through to the other side of the screen. Playground offers a behind-the-scenes look at video game development through archives, production content, and immersive, playable experiences, from Rayman to Riders Republic.
Since 1996, generations of creators have been designing and developing video games in the heart of Annecy. To mark the studio’s 30th anniversary, Playground is sharing this story with the general public through a free exhibition, open to all.
Designed as an immersive journey into video game creation, the exhibition invites visitors to discover video games beyond the screen: the different roles involved, the skills required, the stages of creation, and the men and women who bring these worlds to life. Archival pieces, production materials, immersive elements and playable experiences come together to form an accessible and entertaining journey tracing three decades of creativity in Annecy, from Rayman to Riders Republic.
Going beyond the studio’s history, Playground thus highlights an aspect of contemporary creativity deeply rooted in the Annecy region, at the crossroads of imagery, technology, design and popular culture.
