Straddling the Haute-Savoie and Savoie, the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park is a wonderful place to discover. The landscape is made up of huddled villages, meadows and forests, surrounded by impressive limestone reliefs. Lake Annecy is the window to the lake in Haute-Savoie.

What is a Regional Nature Park?

This national recognition is based on the quality of the heritage and the voluntary commitment of the communes to local development based on its preservation and enhancement. The Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park was created in December 1995 by decree of the Prime Minister.

What is a Geopark?

The Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park was awarded the Geopark label in 2011 (a label recognised by UNESCO). It is a remarkable geological territory. One can read in its landscapes or at the detours of exceptional sites, a few pages of the history of the Earth. Noted for its large limestone reliefs punctuated by magnificent perched synclines, the Massif des Bauges Geopark is also distinguished by an exceptional underground and aquatic heritage.
