Description

An old Alpine chalet is home to this museum, created by the Survivors of Les Glières and devoted to life in the Haute-Savoie during the Second World War. The focus upstairs is the Resistance movement in Les Glières and the liberation of the département.

Between Thônes and La Balme-de-Thuy, the site of Morette is dedicated to the memory of the Resistance and the Second World War in Haute-Savoie.

The National Necropolis of Les Glières, created in April 1944 to bury the Resistance fighters who died in combat, the 105 graves of the Necropolis are managed by the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War (ONACVG).

The departmental museum of the Haute-Savoie Resistance was created by the Rescapés des Glières in a former mountain chalet in 1964. It is dedicated to the history of Haute-Savoie during the Second World War. On the first floor, documents more specific to the Glières maquis and the liberation of the department are on display.

Located on the same site, the departmental memorial to the deportation was founded in 1965 by the Association of deportees, internees and families of Haute-Savoie. It recalls the deportation of Haute-Savoie resistance fighters and presents testimonies on the concentration camp universe.

Visits and activities for all ages are offered by the Department's team of cultural mediators.
